COMMON DENTAL EMERGENCIES WE TREAT

A dental emergency can happen when you least expect it. Fortunately, Dr. McPherson and our team are always prepared. Some of the most frequent urgent dental services we offer are related to emergencies like:

Toothaches

A severe toothache can be caused by various factors, including active decay, gum infections, or an injury. If you're experiencing persistent, intense tooth pain, contact us so that we can diagnose and address the underlying issue in addition to getting you out of pain quickly.

Chipped or Broken Tooth

Slips, falls, or bumps to the mouth can easily lead to chipped or broken teeth. Dr. Scott McPherson will assess the extent of the damage and recommend appropriate treatments such as dental bonding, veneers, or crowns to restore your smile. If a large portion of the tooth breaks off, please place it in milk and bring it with you.

Knocked-Out Tooth

Avulsed teeth require immediate attention. Rinse the tooth gently without touching or scrubbing the root surfaces, and try to place it back into its socket if possible (but do not force it.) If it won’t go back into place, put it in a sealed container and cover it with milk or tap water with a pinch of salt. Contact us as soon as possible, as knocked-out teeth need to be addressed right away.

Filling or Crown Falling Off

When a dental filling or crown becomes dislodged or falls out, the affected tooth may feel sensitive or painful. Avoid chewing on the tooth, as it may break apart quickly. It’s best that you contact us at your earliest convenience.

Gum Infections and Abscesses

Dental abscesses or large areas of swelling can cause severe discomfort and should not be ignored. In rare cases, abscessed teeth can become life-threatening. After you call our office to make an appointment, rinse with warm salt water and take Motrin to help with the inflammation.
